Well it's more baby projects for me and I am loving it! I decided to make jersey knit headbands for my princess and I am very excited about them because they will look so cute and be so comfy for her little head.
I didn't have a baby head to measure but I used 14" as my measurement
Here is what you need:
Jersey Knit fabric strip 14"x 3"
Optional: circle things to trace
Alright here we go!
The jersey knit fabric I bought came about 48" wide 10" in length because I only bought 1/4 of a yard.
I first cut off 14" leaving me with a 14"x10" piece
Then I cut it into 3 strips 2 at 3" each and one at 4". the 3" ones will be for headbands and the 4" one I used for the flowers.
Next you will fold it over and stitch lightly
When you get to the end pull firmly but not too tight and tie it off.
Flip it right side out and you have a headband! Now we just need flowers!
Take the 4" piece from before and trace circles. I used a cup lid to trace the largest one which was about 4" across.
I used the bottom of the cup as well and then I free handed the rest. I used 6 pieces all together per flower and made 2.
This is what it looks like. Don't worry about imperfections it only adds to the cuteness.
Now sew all of the pieces together. I started in the center to keep all of it together
I then went and created small folds around the back to give it a bit more movement. Now you are ready to attach it to the headband!
I just sewed mine on to keep it secure and to have to hard spots for baby's head. You could also secure it with a glue gun.
After making the baby headband I wanted to make one to match her! you can do this too just by measuring your head and making the band to your size!
Here are a few more variations I made
I hope you have a fun time making these like I did!
